The O2 Wallet

O2 WalletThe O2 wallet is not just a mobile phone, but an Oyster Card and Barclaycard all in one. The phone is currently in the middle of a six month trial by 500 people, and is receiving rave reviews. The phone includes technology similar to9 that of the current Oyster card being used by people living in and around London. This technology means that by swiping your card past a sensor, it takes money from pre-paid card instead of buying a ticket. Not only will the O2 Wallet have this technology, it will also combine a payment system whereby you can use your phone to pay for things up to the value of 10 with a swipe of the handset. After that you will be required to use your pin number. There will also be technology in place for downloading wallpapers and ring tones by swiping your phone over posters with special chips in them.

This O2 phone has some obvious flaws, mainly that you have to continually get your phone out, which as many people who have ever visited a big city like London know, is great for pickpockets. Not only that, but if your phone does get stolen you need to find another phone to call and stop your money being spent.

The phone was shown to the public on popular Sunday morning television show Something for the Weekend where it received great acclaim by the hosts and the gadget expert for the week. The O2 wallet will either take off or it wont, Its just a shame that the people who live outside of London won’t be able to use it!
