A group of students built the nifty pedal-powered Panzer tank you see above. It's "capable of cruising along at 15 mph thanks to pedals re-claimed from six ten speed bicycles and a steering system cobbled together from an old Geo Metro and a Ford 150 pickup." The trick was moving the tank using muscle alone. Computer models showed that it could fit hardware for six pedalers and yield about 1.5 horsepower. That's not enough to move tank treads, so the team used wheels instead.[via Gizmodo - Popsci]
