The Sony Ericsson C902 - A Phone Good Enough for James Bond

Sony Ericsson C902Sometimes amobile phonewill come to market that is packed with features and the Sony Ericsson C902is just such a handset. The C902 is the latest in the popular Sony Ericsson Cybershot range, and to justify the handset Sony have made some welcome improvements in the camera technology and with the phone in general.

The C902 sports a cracking 5.0 megapixel camera, with autofocus, face detection and an image stabliser as standard. To access the camera you give the end a tug and the covered lens is exposed. You can see this in the video clip below. The opening mechanism reminds me of the 1970’s spy TV programs, the camera is opened in a similar way to the small spy cameras they used to use. The handset has a flash, which Sony Ericsson are calling simply Photo Flash. It doesn’t carry the Xenon name but SE claim it is as good as a Xenon flash. The light can also be used when recording video clips in low light, which is a nice touch.

The Best Pic option is available on the handset, which when activated takes 9 pictures in very quick succession on the phone, with one press of the camera key. From the 9, you can view and select your favourite pic and delete the rest. Best Pic is ideal if you find that subjects in your photos tend to close their eyes or open their mouths just as you are about to take their picture!

Viewing the pictures on the phone is simply and easily done, thanks to the built in accelerometer. When viewing your pictures in portrait mode simply rotate the handset by 90 degrees to view automatically in landscape mode. Or you can simply upload them to your own online blog, thanks to the mobile’s built in support for blogging and video blogging, or vlogging if you prefer. There is even software built in to the phone that allows you to create a slide show, on the handset, complete with transitions and a backing soundtrack.

Away from the top range imaging capabilities the Sony Ericsson C902 is a serious handset for communication and web access on the move. Supporting HSDPA mobile broadband for super fast download speeds, the Sony C902 also has a bright, clear TFT QVGA screen, which presents websites in the sharpest clarity. The handset has a built in Netfront web browser, but you can also download and install the excellent Opera Mini web browser.

Memory capacity is abundant, with a solid 160MB of internal memory, plus the option to expand with the addition of Sony M2 memory cards.
