BBC and Nintendo in tie up - mobile iPlayer next?

Technology advances, and technology moves on. Every day we see more and more, new developments, and more convergence between web, TV and mobile.

BBC mobile iPlayerFrom watching TV and web browsing on your mobile phone, web based services are becoming more and more mobile. One of the biggest services to launch on the web in recent times is the iPlayer from the BBC. In a very short space of time, the iPlayer service has become the number one service for viewing videos in the UK. Available initially on PC’s the iPlayer service has now moved to gaming consoles, with the recent announcement of a tie up between the BBC and Nintendo, allowing owners of the Nintendo Wii console to view iPlayer content on the TV instead of viewing on the PC.

What we are waiting for now is compatibility of the iPlayer with a large range of mobile phones. It is currently available on the iPhone, but if the iPlayer mobile service is going to be taken to the masses, it needs to go onto something like Nokia’s NSeries range. The N95, N95 8GB and N82 would all be more than capable of running the iPlayer.

So come on BBC, we’re waiting.
