Sony Ericsson Take On New Ambassador Maria Sharapova In A Four Year Deal

Sony Ericsson have recently appointed ace tennis player Maria Sharapova in an exclusive four year sponsorship to become the companys first global brand ambassador. Sony Ericsson currently sponsor the WTA Tour, and have been since 2005 as part of a $88 million deal spanning 6 years. The new relationship between Sony Ericsson and Sharapova compliments this existing deal perfectly.

Sharapova turns 21 this year and is world renowned for her tennis skills. She said of the deal

It is really exciting to be working with a cool brand like Sony Ericsson which has such a strong reputation in the entertainment industry. Even though most people know me as a tennis player, I have so many passions beyond the sport like fashion, music, film and design; which Sony Ericsson and I are going to be exploring together through our partnership.

Sony Ericsson have announced that not only will Sharapova be taking part in some new and innovative advertising and branding campaigns, but she will also be working with the Sony Ericsson design team on a range of products and accessories. Definitely something to keep an eye out for!
